What To Do:Cosplay, short for costume play, is a pastime increasing in popularity. It involves dressing up as characters from comics and video games.
Where:Nightline travelled to the birthplace of cosplay, Japan, to check it out.
Why Do It: The Cosplayers Nightline spoke to had spent around 200,000 yen (NZ$2000) on their costumes, not unusual in this vibrant and creative country.
One cosplayer we found had 30 costumes, which is excessive. Luckily some characters, like E-Honda from Street Fighter 2, requite minimal effort.
